Hollywood’s biggest A-listers come together to celebrate their wonderful mothers for VH1’s “Dear Mama” special event on Sunday, May 8th at 9PM ET/PT.
VH1, Flavor Unit and Jesse Collins Entertainment team up to help the world celebrate motherhood with honorees Alicia Keys’ mom Terria Joseph, Rita Ora’s mom Vera Sahatçiu, Queen Latifah’s mom Rita Owens, Anthony Anderson’s mom Doris Bowman, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Alessia Cara’s mom Enza Caracciolo.
After the hilarious top-secret opening performance by Anderson, Rita Owens gets an unforgettable performance of one of her favorite songs “Poetry Man” by Phoebe Snow from her multitalented daughter, Queen Latifah.
Jada Pinkett-Smith gets recognized by her children Trey, Jaden and Willow along with husband Will Smith who surprises her with a performance from one of her favorite artist. The Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) organization, which Jada is very supportive, also paid tribute with an original spoken word poem.
Songstress Alicia Keys salutes her mother Terria Joseph, by giving a tearful dedication and performance of her song that she wrote for her mom, “If I Ain’t Got You.” To make it even more personal, she changes the words to “If I Ain’t Got You, Mama.”
Rita Ora celebrates her mom Vera Sahatçiu, a Kosovo refugee and breast cancer survivor by reading a heartfelt letter expressing her admiration and love.
Youtube sensation Alessia Cara performs her hit single “Wild Things” for her lovely mother and best friend, Enza Caracciolo.
